Logan Johnston will wear Team Canada East uniform

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Edmundston Blizzard forward Logan Johnston will represent Team Canada East, who will compete at the World Junior A Challenge in Turo, Nova Scotia from December 10-16.

Johnston made Team Canada East for a second year in a row. In 2016, in Alberta, he guided Team Canada East to the silver medal when his team lost to the USA in the final, 4-0. Johnston had scored two goals in five games at this tournament.

Team Canada East is currently preparing for its first game against Russia on December 10th. The other teams at this tournament are Team Canada West, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and the United States. Team Canada East will battle with Switzerland an Russian in its division.

Fredericton native Johnston has 30 points (10g, 20a) in 23 games this season with the Blizzard. Defenseman Francis Thibeault of Val-D’Amour is the only other Maritime hockey player to wear Team Canada East’s uniform. Thibeault plays with the Campbellton Tigers in the Maritime Hockey League. He has nine points (3g, 6a) in 22 games.

Meanwhile, the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the QMJHL decided to keep forward and Blizzard captain Kyle Ward until January 1st. Defenseman Dominic Hachey is back in Edmundston. He was recalled by the Charlottetown Islanders for the weekend’s games.
