Lyonnais’ turn to stand out in a Blizzard win

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard continues to rack up wins and this time it’s not because of its offensive skills. It was rather the goalkeeper who stood out over the weekend. On Saturday evening, Antoine Lyonnais delivered a masterful performance by blocking 29 of the 31 pucks he faced, and he led the Blizzard to a 4-2 win over the Amherst Ramblers in front of 2,684 spectators at the Jean-Daigle Centre.

As the previous day (4-1 win), the Blizzard had to dig in all of its resources to obtain the two precious points. Captain Tristan Gagnon (2nd star) stole the show offensively with his work ethic which allowed him to register a goal and and an assist. And his goal was the winning one.

Chrystopher Collin also got a goal and an assist. Ben Lightbody and Tristan Mercure (empty net) also found the back of the net for the Blizzard which saw is record go to 25-8-1-5 compared to 19-17-1-0 for the Ramblers. Maxime Boudreau (3rd star) was the top player for the visitor by scoring his team’s two goals.

The Blizzard will clash against the Campbellton Tigers (19-11-3-2) on Wednesday January 29 (7:30 p.m.) at the Jean-Daigle Centre.
