MHL: Cédric Massé named goalie of the month for the second time!

Truro, N.S. (February 5, 2026) – After being named Goaltender of the Month for October, Cédric Massé has done it again, this time for January. The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) made the announcement when it revealed the names of the best forward, defenseman, and goaltender for January.

Top Goaltender – Cédric Massé (Edmundston Blizzard) – The 20-year-old from Rimouski, Quebec was a workhorse for Edmundston in January, playing the 485 minutes; the most of any goaltender in the league. He posted a 7-0-1-0 record for the month to lead all netminder’s in wins with a 2.60 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. Massé had a five-game winning streak to start the month, which included 45 saves in a 5-4 overtime win in Summerside on the 8th, 33 saves in an 11-3 win over Amherst on the 9th, and 32 saves in a 7-2 win over Miramichi on the 15th. Entering February, Massé leads all goaltenders in goals against average (2.62), wins (21), save percentage (.911), and shutouts (4), and is second in minutes played.

Honourable Mention – Olivier Bacon (West Kent Steamers) – The 19-year-old from Sainte-Julie, Quebec posted a perfect 4-0-0-0 record in January for West Kent with a 3.25 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. Bacon faced an average of over 35 shots per game, including a high of 47 in a 6-3 win over Chaleur on the 29th and 40 to finish his month in a 6-3 win over Miramichi on the 31st.

Top Forward – Anthony Gaudet (Amherst Ramblers) – The 19-year-old from St-Ignace, N.B. has been named the MHL’s Top Forward for the second month in a row. Gaudet led all players with 22 points in ten games in January, including a league-best fourteen assists to go with his eight goals. Entering February, Gaudet was eleven points clear of Pictou County’s Logan Crosby for the MHL scoring lead with 71 points in 40 games for Amherst. He leads the league in assists (51), shorthanded goals (6), and shorthanded points (4). Gaudet is also fourth in powerplay assists and powerplay points.

Gaudet ran his active point streak to 25 games through January;  the longest such streak in the MHL this season. Six of his ten games were multi-point efforts. He had a goal and two assists in a 7-5 win over Valley on January 2nd. piled up four assists in a 6-5 overtime win over Miramichi on the 10th. He ended his month with eleven points in the final four games of the month. That included a goal and two assists in a 4-3 win over Yarmouth on the 23rd and a goal and three assists in a 5-2 win over Valley on the 30th.

Honourable Mention – Darien Thomson (Edmundston Blizzard) – The 19-year-old from Fredericton, N.B. had seventeen points in ten games for the Blizzard in January. Thomson had a league-best eleven goals, including three game-winning goals, to go with six assists. He had points in eight games last month. Thomson boasted two games where he had a hat trick and an assist for the Blizzard. The first was on the 3rd in an 8-3 win over Campbellton and then on the 9th in an 11-3 win over Amherst. He also had a goal and two assists against Miramichi on the 15th. Thomson sits fifth in league scoring entering February with 56 points in 42 games and is tied with Pictou County’s Logan Crosby for the most goals with 32.

Top Defenseman – Easton Adrian (Chaleur Lightning) – The 20-year-old from Dalmeny, Saskatchewan had the second-most points among MHL defensemen in January with twelve in eight games. Among blueliners, Adrian was one of three players with five goals last month and his seven assists ranked him fourth. Two of his five goals were game-winners: one in overtime the 16th against Grand Falls and one on the 21st against Miramichi. He averaged over 25 minutes per game on the ice for the Lightning in January, which was the highest on the team. Adrian, who joined Chaleur in December, has been a point-per-game player for the Lightning with six goals and nine assists in fifteen games.

Honourable Mention – Pierre-Marc Minville (West Kent Steamers) – The 20-year-old from St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Quebec had thirteen points in eight games last month to lead all defensemen. Minville’s eleven assists were fourth among all skaters. He finished the month on a four-game point streak with ten points in that time. Minville’s best outing on the scoresheet was four assists on the 25th in a 6-3 win over Campbellton. He also had two assists on the 23rd against Edmundston and again on the 29th against Chaleur. He finished the month with a goal and an assist on the 31st against Miramichi. For the season, Minville is fifth among blueliners with 36 points in 39 games.
