MHL names Émile Fournier as 2024-25 Rookie of the Year

Truro, N.S. (March 19, 2025) – The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) is pleased to announce Émile Fournier of the Edmundston Blizzard as the 2024-25 Rookie of the Year.

The 18-year-old from Sainte-Luce, Quebec led all rookies with 37 goals and 63 points in 52 games. Fournier finished fourteenth overall in league scoring and third in goals. His goal total was nearly double that of second-place Felix-Antoine Laflamme of Campbellton, who had nineteen. They were also the most for an MHL rookie since Matt Oxtoby of the Yarmouth Mariners also had 37 in 2002-03. Fournier finished second to Laflamme with 26 assists and the two each had five game-winning goals to lead all rookies.

His eleven powerplay goals led all rookies, and were fifth-most overall, helping Fournier to lead all rookies with fifteen powerplay points. He had the second-longest goal streak in the MHL this season at nine games from November 30th to January 4th where he tallied thirteen goals in that span.

Fournier was named Top Rookie in December and February/March, and was the Honourable Mention for Top Rookie in November. He was named to the Eastlink North Team of the Week four times.
