MHL names Simon Olivier as 2024-25 Coach of the Year

Truro, N.S. (March 19, 2025) – The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) is pleased to announce that Simon Olivier of the Edmundston Blizzard is the 2024-25 Coach of the Year.

Olivier led the Blizzard to their best record since moving to Edmundston in 2017-18 at 44-6-1-1, eleven points better than last season. The Blizzard were ranked in the top five of the CJHL’s Top 20 Weekly Rankings for all but two weeks this season. They climbed to the top spot twice, including the final list of the year as teams across the country begin their road to the Centennial Cup.

Edmundston scored 238 goals and allowed a league-best 126, both of which were improvements from the 2023-24 season. The Blizzard also had a slightly better penalty killing mark of 81.6% this season.

This is the first time an Edmundston coach has been awarded the Coach of the Year award, and the first time for the franchise since Jeff Leblanc won with the Dieppe Commandos in 2013-14.
