MHL suspends its activities

Truro, N.S. (March 12, 2019) – Following discussions at the local and national level, the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) Board of Governors has unanimously agreed to suspend the start of the Canadian Tire Cup Playoffs until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The MHL has been closely monitoring the rapidly developing situation among North American sports leagues and tournaments, as well as the world at large. This has included, and will continue to include, regular briefings with the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL), Hockey Canada, and other stakeholders. New information will be considered and communicated between all sides as it becomes available.

The health and safety of players, team staff, and fans is the MHL’s top priority. As stated in an earlier update from the MHL, a memo from Hockey Canada has been circulated to all teams with a number of recommendations to follow to ensure the best healthy practices. Prevention in the hockey environment should be considered by those around the game.
