Mission accomplished in Nova Scotia

BERWICK, Nova Scotia – The Edmundston Blizzard continues its winning ways in Nova Scotia, where the team secured two more victories over the weekend.

After defeating the Yarmouth Mariners 7-5 on Friday, they followed up on Saturday by claiming a 6-3 win against the Valley Wildcats.

Just like the previous night, the game was decided by breaking a tie in the third period. With the score knotted at 3–3, the Blizzard scored three unanswered goals to overcome the Wildcats, who were handed their first regulation-time loss of the season.

Leading the Blizzard’s (4-1-0-0) offense in their fourth consecutive win were Émile Fournier (3rd and 4th goals, 1 assist), William Labranche (4th and 5th goals), Anthony Dontigny (1st goal), Noah Larochelle (4th goal—into an empty net—and 1 assist), Charles-Éric Tremblay (3 assists), Michael Arsenault (2 assists), and Lucas Fortin (2 assists).

Labranche (1st star), Fournier (2nd star), and Lutz (3rd star) were named the game’s top performers in front of a crowd of 549 spectators.

For Dontigny, the goal marked his first point in the MHL. By picking up an assist on the final goal, Félix Haché also recorded his first point in the league.

The Wildcats (3-1-0-1) responded with goals from Drew Lutz (5th), Etienne Dupéré (4th), and Jacob Pineau (2nd).

Once again, the Blizzard was relentless on offense, firing 56 shots at goaltender Sean Hogan. Blizzard netminder Olivier St-Onge earned the win, stopping 41 of 44 shots. The Blizzard lead the Miramichi Timberwolves (3-2-1-0) by one point at the top of the Eastlink North Division standings. The Blizzard and Timberwolves will face off at the Jean-Daigle Centre on Friday, October 2 (7 p.m.).
