EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard’s crowd success this season is also spreading across the northwestern region of New Brunswick.

Sot the Blizzard organization brought some features to keep the population excited about the Maritime Junior A Hockey League team.

Since January 12, until the end of the season on home ice, two mini Blizz players, wearing the team’s jersey, make a few laps of the rink before the game to greet the Blizzard players. These young hockey players are picked from initiation and novice categories of the Edmundston Community Minor Hockey Club.

“Beginning next year, the entire Northwest region from Kedgwick to the rural community of Haut-Madawaska will be covered,” said André Mercure, vice-president of hockey operations for the Blizzard. The selection of players for each game will be made from a random draw, the names of which come from a database of hockey players from the Northwest listed on the Blizzard website.”

In addition, Mr. Mercure announced the creation of the Blizzard Hockey School this summer, from August 26 to 31. The details will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Another novelty is the Blizzard players’ official hockey cards, which have been on sale at local games since January 28 and are very popular among fans.
