Offensive night for the Blizzard in Grand Falls

GRAND FALLS, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard are continuing their good work in exhibition games. On Wednesday evening in Grand Falls, Simon Olivier’s men defeated the Rapids 7-4. This was the Blizzard’s third win in three games in September.

While the first two exhibition games last week allowed the younger players to demonstrate their skills, it was the turn of the more experienced players to do the same on Wednesday night.

Jérémy Ste-Marie notched two goals and an assist to guide his new team to victory. Philippe Collette (1g, 1a), Noah Matulu (1g, 1a), Jean-Christophe Coulombe (1g, 1a), Jérémy Fortin and Ryan Loveless also beat goalkeeper Gio DiMattia, who faced 38 shots. For Loveless, it was a fourth goal in his third exhibition game. Rearguard Zachary Robichaud also did well with two assists.

The Rapids’ reply came from Tate Brenner (1g, 2a), Ethan Johnson (1g, 1a), Marco LeBlanc and Will Morrison.

The game’s three stars went to Fortin (1st), Ste-Marie (2nd) and Brenner (3rd).

Samuel LeBlanc (1 goal on 7 shots) and Will Hodgson (3 goals on 13 shots) shared the task in front of the Blizzard cage.

Blizzard fans will have the chance to see their favorites again in a final exhibition game on Friday, September 8 (7:30 p.m.) at the Jean-Daigle Centre.
