Olivier Légaré named assistant coach for the Blizzard

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Edmundston Blizzard President André Lebel and General Manager Steve MacPherson are pleased to announce the hiring of Olivier Légaré as assistant coach for the upcoming season. He will assist head coach Michael Ward.

A native of Saint-Sulpice, on the north shore of Montréal, Olivier Légaré has been working full-time in hockey for eight years now.

He began his coaching career with the Marquis du Mont-Sainte-Anne in the M15 Major School Preparatory Hockey League before joining the Commandeurs du Collège de Lévis five years ago, where he served as head coach of the M18 D1 next generation team, while also acting as lead coach for the four M15 teams. His role consisted of organizing selection camps, supporting coaches throughout the season, and contributing to player development, both during practices and games.

Olivier Légaré, who just turned 30, was involved in the summer physical preparation and individual skill development of the program’s players. At the same time, he was a coach in the Collège de Lévis football program.

Over the past few years, he has also been an assistant coach at the LHJMQ Cup as part of the U18 AAA Challenge in 2024, coach of the Estrie team at the Québec Games in 2019, and coach of the Chaudière-Appalaches team in 2024. More recently, he took part in the U13 Challenge in May 2025.

“I am a very organized and competitive coach. I place great importance on balancing performance and human relations to build players’ confidence and allow them to reach their full potential,” said Olivier Légaré.
