EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Edmundston Blizzard star forward Philippe Collette will wear the colors of the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleus for the 2025-2026 season.
The 20-year-old player from Saint-Antoine has decided to put junior hockey behind him to pursue his career in university hockey. At the Moncton campus, he will study criminology.
Captain of the Blizzard in 2024-2025, he led his teammates to a dream season when Edmundston won the playoff championship for the second time in its history. The Blizzard finished the campaign with an outstanding record of 44-6-1-1 and first place in the year-end junior A national rankings.
Collette holds numerous career offensive team records, including most goals (61), assists (113) and points (174) in just 118 games. He began his junior career with the Blizzard in 2021-2022, a season in which he helped the Moncton Flyers win the Telus Cup Canadian Midget Championship.
Last season, Collette finished third in the MHL in scoring, with 26 goals and 58 assists in 48 games. He also led the league in assists.
“Philippe was without a doubt one of the greatest players in the history of the Edmundston franchise,” said Blizzard president André Lebel. He was a player who always led by example, who always showed discipline and honesty, while giving his all on and off the ice. He is certainly a model of excellence to be emulated. We wish him every success in his career with the Aigles Bleus and in his studies.”
