EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard and the Miramichi Timberwolves have completed a trade involving three players and conditional picks.
The Blizzard acquires the rights to forward Anthony Dontigny and a conditional second-round pick in the 2027 draft in exchange for the rights to Luka Romaniak and Dimitri Bélanger, as well as conditional second and fourth-round picks in the 2028 draft and future considerations.
According to Blizzard General Manager Steve MacPherson, Dontigny is an elite skater and will be a big contributor in all aspects. He was selected in the fifth round (80th overall) by the Shawinigan Cataractes in the 2024 QMJHL draft. Dontigny has already committed to Cornell University to continue his career in NCAA Division I starting in the 2028-2029 season, following his junior career.
Defenseman Luka Romaniak, 18, from L’Île-Bizard, Québec, played 25 games with the Océanic last season, recording one goal and two assists. He was a 12th-round pick (201st overall) in the 2024 QMJHL draft. As for Dimitri Bélanger, a 17-year-old from Moncton, he was the Blizzard’s first pick (9th overall) in the 2025 MHL draft and a 12th-round pick (208th overall) of the Québec Remparts in 2025. Last season, he played 38 games for the Moncton Flyers midget team, recording 10 goals and 18 assists.
