EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard has just added a new defenseman to its roster with the arrival of Justin Bouchard, a native of Pont-Rouge, Québec. He was acquired from the Cégep Beauce-Appalaches Condors, a team in the Québec Junior AAA Hockey League. In return, the Blizzard gave up future considerations.
The 18-year-old, 5’10’’ defenseman is expected to be very good by bringing more offence to the team’s back end, according to Blizzard general manager Steve MacPherson. Last season, he recorded 3 goals and 26 assists in 42 games with the Condors. His impressive play convinced the Shawinigan Cataractes (QMJHL) to call him up for 10 games. He did not disappoint, recording 1 goal and 3 assists. He even had a game with one goal (the game-winner) and one assist on February 1st, 2026 against the powerful Chicoutimi Saguenéens, champions of the Gilles-Courteau Cup.
Justin Bouchard was drafted in the 14th round (242nd overall) by the Shawinigan Cataractes in the 2024 QMJHL Draft. The following season, he was selected in the 8th round (100th overall) by the Condors.
The Blizzard will play its first home game of the season on Saturday, September 19, when they host the Summerside Western Capitals. A tail gate party will be held in front of the Jean-Daigle Centre starting at noon to mark the 10th anniversary of the franchise in Edmundston.
