EDMUNDSTON, N.B. – The Edmundston Blizzard will attempt to increase its lead on top of the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) Eastlink North Division when it hosts the South Shore Lumberjacks on Sunday, October 22, at 3 pm at the Palladium of Saint-Jacques. This will be the last game played at the Palladium before the team relocates at the Jean-Daigle Centre.

Prior to Saturday’s games the Blizzard has a record of nine wins and two losses (18 points), six points better than the St. Stephen Aces (6-7-0-0) and the Miramichi Timberwolves (5-3-1-1). The Lumberjacks have won eight games and lost only three for 16 points.

If Ryan Salvis’s players are well rested, we can not say the same for the Lumberjacks squad which will play its third game this weekend. Friday, they defeated the Campbellton Tigers, 3-2. Tonight (Saturday), they compete against the Miramichi Timberwolves.

Sunday’s meeting promises to be up and running with two great teams both on offense and defense. Edmundston is second in the league on offense, while South Shore allowed the fewest goals per game.

QUICK NOTES – The Lumberjacks are counting on a well diversified offense unit. Only one player, Logan O’Neil (7g, 6a) is ranked among the MHL’s top 25 point getters. The Blizzard has four: Logan Johnston (3g, 14a), Kyle Ward (11g, 5a), Alexandre Jacob (3g, 11a), and Liam Leonard (6g, 7a)… The odds are pretty good the Lumberjacks will use MacKenzie Janes as their goalkeeper on Sunday. He shows the league’s best goal against average at 1.00. This season, Janes shares the net with Conor McCollum (2.72). The number one goaltender for Edmundston, Francis Asselin, has a 2.55 g.a.a.
