EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard has just completed a major deal with the St. Stephen Aces involving two 17-year-old defensemen.
The Blizzard sent to the Aces the excellent rearguard Simon Elsliger of Dieppe and a sixth-round pick in the 2018 Maritime Hockey League (MHL) draft. In return, Edmundston got Justin Lush, another defenseman with a very promising future.
A Burton native, near Oromocto, Lush won the Luc-Bourdon Award last season, an honour given to the top midget AAA defenseman of the NB-PEI Major Midget Hockey League. In 35 games with the Fredericton Canadiens, Lush recorded 27 points, including four goals.
The Blizzard front office hockey management is very proud to count on a player of the caliber of Lush who led all league’s defensemen in points last season and who earned a well deserved spot on the 1st All-Star team.
Elsliger also had a great campaign last season with the Moncton Flyers, tallying 20 points including six goals in 29 games.
More than 30 hockey players will report to the Edmundston Blizzard training camp starting Thursday, August 24.
