The Lightning defeat the Blizzard 6-3

BATHURST, New Brunswick – To make a pun, the Lightning Chaleur literally struck the Blizzard with lightning, quickly scoring the first six goals of Friday night’s game to win 6-3.

Playing their first home game at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre in Bathurst in front of 2,147 spectators, the Lightning recorded their third win in as many games this season, while the Blizzard (1-2-0-1) suffered their third consecutive loss.

The Blizzard held their own until halfway through the first period. But they collapsed after that, allowing six consecutive goals in less than 19 minutes, from 10:43 in the first period to 9:22 in the second. The Lightning took a 4-0 lead in the opening period.

Ben Cross (2nd and 3rd), Carter Bromley (3rd, 1a), Brett Yuzik (1st, 1a), Zachary Rushton (2nd, 1a), and Will Clark (1st) put the puck past goaltender Rylan Benner, who was replaced by Cédric Massé after the sixth goal midway through the second period.

Darien Thomson (5th, 1a), Charles-Éric Tremblay (2nd) and Mathieu Boucher (1st) replied for the Blizzard.

Samuel Carreiras-Pata was credited with the win in goal for the Lightning. The Blizzard outshot the Lightning 32-29.

The Blizzard will play its next game next Thursday when they visit the West Kent Steamers (2-1-1-0).
