The Timberwolves get their revenge

MIRAMICHI, N.B. – Twenty-four hours after suffering a 3-2 loss to the Edmundston Blizzard at the Jean-Daigle Centre, the Miramichi Timberwolves got their revenge at home on Saturday night, winning 3-1.

Charles-Éric Tremblay (9th) gave the Blizzard the lead at 8:38 in the first period, but before the end of the period, the Wolves responded with goals from Éliott Robert (15th) and Alexis Doucet (16th) at 17:40 and 19:23, respectively.

Neither team was able to score in the next two periods except for Robert’s empty-net goal with 1:13 remaining in the game.

The Timberwolves had the advantage in shots (29-20). Goaltenders Jack Flanagan (Timberwolves) and Cédric Massé (Blizzard) faced off for the second night in a row.

The three stars went to the Timberwolves players: Robert (1st), Doucet (2nd), and Flanagan (3rd).

The Blizzard (15-13-1-2 = 33 pts) missed a great opportunity to take fourth place in the Eastlink North Division from the Campbellton Tigers (15-12-3-1 = 34 pts).

Edmundston will have to quickly put this loss behind them as they face the West Kent Steamers (15-10-3-3 = 36 pts) on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the J.K. Irving Centre in Grand Bouctouche.
