Therrien and Paul shine in a 5-3 Blizzard win

FREDERICTON, N.B. – The Edmundston Blizzard posted a third victory in as many pre-season games when they defeated the Fredericton Red Wings 5-3 on Saturday night in the provincial capital.

Tristan Therrien, who played in his first game in the Blizzard uniform, collected two goals and an assist. His second goal of the game, late in the second period, turned out to be the winning one. Austin Paul also had a great night offensively with three assists. Tristan Fortin, Blake Richardson and Jérémie Thibodeau completed the scoresheet for the Blizzard.

Slava Melikov, Malcom Burns and Cole Fraser beat goaltender Nicholas Sheehan who also saw action for the first time. Morgan Kini was in front of the Red Wings net. The Red Wings slightly edged the Blizzard in the shooting column (35-34).

The same two teams will face off again on Sunday evening (7:30 p.m.) at the Jean-Daigle Centre in Edmundston.

Meanwhile, the Blizzard have announced that they have traded veteran forward Félix Laniel to the Valley Wildcats in return for a conditional third-round pick in the 2022 draft and future considerations. Blizzard management would like to thank Félix for his contribution over the past two seasons, during which he totaled 10 goals and 9 assists in 30 games.
