EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The presence of the two best teams in the Maritime Junior A Hockey League in the Grand Finals is having a positive impact on both the excitement and ticket sales.
With one week to go before games 3 and 4, which will be presented on Thursday, April 20 and Friday, April 21 at the Jean-Daigle Centre, the excitement is comparable to that of the first season when the Edmundston Blizzard won the playoff championship against the same Yarmouth Mariners that they will face in the final series.
Tickets went on sale on line on Wednesday and have been snapped up at a rate that already suggests a full house. Season ticket holders will be able to use game tickets numbered 6 (April 20) and 7 (April 21). If there are any left, individual tickets for these games will be available at the Jean-Daigle Centre box office prior to each game.
The first two games of the best-of-seven final series between the Mariners and the Blizzard will be played on Sunday, April 16 and Monday, April 17 on Nova Scotia soil.
On the season, the Mariners have compiled the best record in the South Eastlink Division and overall in the league with a 41-9-2-0 record for 84 points. On the other side, the Blizzard finished first in the Eastlink North Division with a 38-13-0-1 record for 77 points. The two teams split the two games played against each other on the season, with Yarmouth winning 4-1 in Edmundston and the Blizzard taking revenge 4-3 in Yarmouth.
A promising series between two teams with many similarities.
