Trade: Blizzard gets impact player Jonathan Assayag and sends Ewan MacDonald to Pictou

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard rounded off hectic January 10 trading day deadline with acquiring impact player Jonathan Assayag, from the Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), in return for future considerations.

The Blizzard also sent goaltender Ewan MacDonald to the Pictou County Weeks Crushers in return for a 2021 draft fourth-round pick and future considerations.

Montreal native Assayag, 19, is a 6’2’’, 185 pounds forward who collected 11 goals and 11 assists in 39 games this season with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons (19 games) and the Spruce Grove Saints (20 games). He will report to the Blizzard on Tuesday.

The Blizzard organization would like to thank Ewan MacDonald for the performance and service he provided to the team in the past two seasons and wishes him the best of luck in pursuing his junior career.

The Blizzard will get back on the ice tonight (7 pm) visiting the Miramichi Timberwolves.
