NEW GLASGOW, N.S. – The Edmundston Blizzard left Nova Scotia empty-handed after suffering a 5-1 loss to the Truro Bearcats on Saturday and a 5-3 defeat to the Pictou County Weeks Crushers on Sunday.
On Saturday, the Bearcats (12-7-3-0) scored five consecutive goals to secure the victory. Éli Baillargeon (16th and 17th), Logan Quinn (1st), Julien Roy (2nd), and Rylan Sutherland (3rd) outplayed goalie Cédric Massé, who faced 26 shots.
Only Maddox Thisdelle (2nd), with 2:25 left in the third period, managed to beat Louca Connolly, who faced 32 shots.
The three stars of the game went to Bearcats players: Connolly (1st), Baillargeon (2nd) and Sutherland (3rd).
Sunday’s game was much closer, but the Blizzard had to admit defeat late in the game. Braylan Fitzgerald (10th) broke a 2-2 tie at 17:08 of the third period, and the Crushers followed with two empty-net goals, both by Logan Crosby (15th and 16th).
Matthew McDonald (7th) and Alex Christmas (2nd) scored the home team’s first two goals.
The Blizzard’s response came from Alex Thibault (4th) and Darien Thomson (13th and 14th).
Both teams had the same number of shots on goal (31). Rylan Benner was in goal for the Blizzard, while Yianni Karkoulas was in goal for the Weeks Crushers (10-8-0-2).
Crosby (1st), Thomson (2nd), and Karkoulas (3rd) earned game stars.
The Blizzard (10-8-1-2) suffered their fourth consecutive loss. Edmundston will play their next four games at the Jean-Daigle Centre, with their next meeting scheduled for Friday, November 21 (7:30 p.m.) against the Chaleur Lightning (13-9-0-0).
