EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Defenseman Zachary Robichaud has confirmed that he will start the 2024-2025 season in the Edmundston Blizzard uniform.
This is excellent news for the Blizzard’s defensive brigade, which was more effective last season in the presence of the young Edmundston defenseman, who turns 18 next month.
Last season, Zachary Robichaud played 22 games with the Blizzard, collecting one goal and 10 assists. Then, between Christmas and New Year’s Day, he was recalled by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, with whom he played 11 games until the end of the season.
“I looked at the Titan’s defensemen unit, both new and returning players. I realized that it would be difficult for me to carve out a spot as a regular defenseman, so I made the decision to come back home and play with the Blizzard,” explained Zachary Robichaud.
His QMJHL experience will serve him well. “I’ve learned that you have to work hard to get what you want. So, I’m going to redouble my efforts to help the Blizzard win this year’s championship,” he emphasized.
Known for his offensive talents and toughness, the 6′, 175 lbs rearguard wants to be a leader this season, both on and off the ice. “I’m going to give it my hundred percent,” he promised, “and make sure the Blizzard are a tough team to play against until we get to our goal of winning the championship.”
The Blizzard set their sights on Zachary Robichaud in the 2022 Maritime Junior Hockey League draft. He was selected by the Blizzard in the first round of the territorial draft.
With three more seasons of junior hockey ahead of him, Zachary Robichaud hasn’t written off a possible return to the QMJHL. He’s chosen to make his mark with the Blizzard first.
