EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard has retained its second place ranking in the Canadian Junior Hockey League, according to a press release issued today by the CJHL.
For eight straight weeks, the Blizzard has occupied either first place (week of November 25 to December 1) or second place (weeks of October 21, October 28, November 4, November 11, November 18, December 2 and December 9).
With a record of 23-3-1-1, the Blizzard earned a 5-4 overtime win over West-Kent on Thursday, December 5, before falling to Fredericton 4-3 in a shootout the following day.
The Trenton Golden Hawks (OJHL) continue to sit atop the Canadian standings with a 26-3-1-0 record and a 15-game winning streak. A newcomer in third place is the Melfort Mustangs of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, with a 21-4-0-0 record.
The Summerside Western Capitals (21-4-2-1) occupy sixth place in Canada, while the West Kent Steamers (17-7-2-0) earn an honorable mention for the fourth week in a row.
The Blizzard play their next game at the Jean-Daigle Centre on Friday, December 13 (7:30 p.m.) against the Grand Falls Rapids (7-15-0-4).
