Edmundston Blizzard win 2023-24 Young/Knickle Award for Top Goaltending Duo

Truro, N.S. (March 18, 2024) – The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) is pleased to announce that the Edmundston Blizzard have won the 2023-24 Young/Knickle Award for the top goaltending duo. The award is presented annually to the team that allows the fewest goals in a season. As a team, the Blizzard allowed 136 goals in 52 games to capture the award for the first time.

They were led between the pipes by Nicholas Sheehan who topped virtually every statistical category in the MHL, including games played (40), wins (30), goals against average (2.29), minutes played (2,383), saves (1,135), save percentage (.926), shutouts (5), and shootout wins (3). Overall, the 20-year-old from Moncton, N.B. posted a 30-9-1-0 record for the Blizzard.

Samuel LeBlanc, the 18-year-old from Memramcook, N.B., played thirteen games for the Blizzard with a 9-3-0-0 record, 3.41 goals against average, .882 save percentage, and one shutout.
