EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – Edmundston Blizzard rookie forward Maxime Grandmaison will dress up for his very first game in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) tonight in Rimouski (Oceanic) in a Rouyn-Noranda Huskies’ uniform.

The Huskies, who acquired the rights of Grandmaison, 18 years old, on waivers last fall, recalled the power forward of 6’1’’ and 187 pounds on Thursday.

Intentions of the Huskies’ management are unknown about Grandmaison’s stays with the team. However, it is likely that his presence with Rouyn-Noranda will be short-lived.

In 40 games with the Edmundston Blizzard, the young man from Dieppe had 14 goals and 11 assists. He ranks 4th among goal scorers in the Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL).

In addition to his offensive skills, Grandmaison is a tough player. He is known for his body checks. His fighting spirit led him to 81 penalty minutes so far this season.

Grandmaison drew attention in Moncton’s minor hockey system with the Hawks (bantam AAA, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 seasons) and the Flyers (midget AAA, 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 seasons). He also took part in five games with the defunct Dieppe Commandos last season.

Maxime Grandmaison is a 13th round pick (233rd overall) of the Gatineau Olympiques (2016 draft) of the QMJHL and a 2nd round pick (22nd overall) of the Dieppe Commandos (2016 draft) of the MHL.

Meanwhile, the Blizzard (32-9-3-0) will face the Miramichi Timberwolves (22-15-3-3) on Saturday, February 24. The game starts at 7:30 pm at the Miramichi Civic Centre.
