EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard has signed Lucas Hannay, a defenseman who will turn 18 on October 22.
A native of Fredericton, the 5’9’’ defenseman possesses undeniable offensive talent, as evidenced by his statistics over the past two seasons. He tallied 37 points (7-30) in as many games with the Fredericton Caps in the Midget AAA ranks during the 2024-2025 season. He posted nearly identical numbers last year, recording 37 points (9-28) in 36 games with the Kimball Union Academy team, which competes in the United States High School (USHS) – Preparatory league.
The six games he played with the Blizzard in 2024–2025 will certainly be an asset that works in his favor heading into the 2026–2027 season. It should be noted that he will first report to training camp with the Drummondville Voltigeurs, who drafted him in the 13th round (235th overall) of the 2024 QMJHL Draft. The Blizzard had him as their second pick in the first round of the 2024 MHL draft.
