Impeccable Blizzard defeats Red Wings 7-1

FREDERICTON, New Brunswick – Inspired by an extremely noisy crowd of fans, the Edmundston Blizzard played a flawless game to easily triumph over the Fredericton Red Wings 7-1 in Game 2 of the Metalfab MHL Cup North Eastlink Division semi-final series played in the provincial capital on Thursday.

The Blizzard take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series, with Game 3 set for Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Jean-Daigle Centre.

From the opening face-off, there was no doubt as to the outcome. The Blizzard were clearly dominant from start to finish.

Félix Bédard (1st star, 2g and 1a), Dominic LeBlanc (3rd star, 2g and 1a), Philippe Collette (2nd star, 1g and 2a), Peter Amanatidis, Ben Wallace (winning goal), Carl-Anthony Massé (2a), Mathieu Boucher (2a) and Alexis Jacques (2a) did the damage for the Blizzard.

Only Carter McCluskey managed to beat goaltender Nicholas Sheehan, who was sensational once again in front of the Blizzard cage. He was tested 32 times, compared to 39 for Red Wings’ Zachary Bridgeo.

Over a hundred Blizzard fans, including a sold-out bus, witnessed the Edmundston team’s decisive victory.
