9th in Canada – Blizzard’s best ranking of the season

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard are now ranked as the ninth best team in the country in the weekly Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) rankings. This is a three-place jump from last week.

This is the Blizzard’s best ranking of the season. Simon Olivier’s team occupied 10th position for two consecutive weeks in the January 29 and February 5 rankings.

The Blizzard won two of their three games last week. First, they blanked the Yarmouth Mariners 4-0 last Thursday. On Saturday, they doubled up on the Valley Wildcats 4-2 before losing 5-3 the following day in Miramichi.

Sure to finish first in their division before the start of the playoffs next week against the Fredericton Red Wings, the Blizzard (36-12-1-0) still have three games to play until the end of their regular season, with games on Thursday March 7 (in Fredericton), Friday March 8 (in Edmundston against Fredericton) and Sunday March 10 (in Grand-Bouctouche).

The Summerside Western Capitals (36-5-3-6 = 81 pts) have moved up from 10th to 5th place in the Canadian rankings.

The Canadian leaders are the Collingwood Blues (OJHL, 49-6-0-1), followed by the Flin Flon Bombers (SJHL, 42-6-2-1) and the Steinbach Pistons (MJHL, 43-7-3-0).
