Jacob Hickey closed the debate with a sharp wrist shot from the end zone’s face-off circle that beat goalkeeper Francis Asselin in the top of the net.
The Blizzard dominated the first period and the Weeks Crushers spent the vast majority of the initial 20 minutes in their zone. The Blizzard led 20-6 in the shots on goal. The Blizzard took a 1-0 lead thanks to Liam Leonard’s goal at 15:49 during a two-man power play. Alexandre Bernier and Alexandre Jacob got the helpers.
The Weeks Crushers then pulled themselves together. They tied the score 1-1 at 0:51 of the middle period on Dylan Riley’s goal. At 12:03, Leonard scored his second of the game on a deflection after Bernier’s shot from the point. Pierre Bourgoin also collected a pass on the goal. Dylan Riley tied the game again with his second of the game at 17:27.
Blizzard dominated 38-35 in shots on goal. Luke Melanson was the goalie for the Weeks Crushers.
The Blizzard will play its next two games at the Jean-Daigle Centre on the upcoming weekend, against the Summerside Western Capitals on Friday (7:30 pm) and the Truro Bearcats on Sunday (3 pm).
