Blizzard surprised at home by the Red Wings

EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Fredericton Red Wings played an almost perfect game defensively and they received a solid performance by their goalie Jack Grant who helped them defeat the Edmundston Blizzard 3-1 on Friday night in front of 2,653 fans at the Jean-Daigle Centre.

The Blizzard opened the score at 4:18 of the first period thanks to Chrystopher Collin’s 21st goal of the campaign.

The Wings then scored three unanswered goals including the last one in an empty net. Liam Smith, Ryan O’Toole and Aiden MacIntosh got the goals for the visitors. MacIntosh added two assists.

Jack Grant received 30 shots from the Blizzard (19-7-1-3). Antoine Lyonnais was tested 28 times by the Red Wings (17-10-2-0).

The game was delayed for about 10 minutes before the start of the 2nd period to allow the Edmundston area to rebuild its power energy as many parts of the city was struck by power outages for the whole day.

The Edmundston Blizzard will be back in action on Sunday; December 22nd at 3 pm. The Campbellton Tigers will be the visitors.
