Edmundston’s Lyonnais named Pro Design Cresting Rookie of the Month for September

Truro, N.S. (October 2, 2019) – The Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) has named Edmundston Blizzard goaltender Antoine Lyonnais as Pro Design Cresting Rookie of the Month for September.

The 18-year-old from Trois-Rivieres, Quebec split time in goal with Ewan MacDonald in the opening month of the 2019-20 MHL season and posted a perfect 3-0-0-0. His 2.00 goals against average ranks him tied for fourth in the MHL with the sixth-best save percentage at .929.

Lyonnais started the first game of the season for the Blizzard, allowing three goals on 23 shots in a 4-3 win over the Rapids in Grand Falls. On September 21st, he made 34 saves in a 4-2 victory in Miramichi. Continuing to start in goal on the road, Lyonnais wrapped up his stellar month with 25 saves in a 5-1 win in Berwick against the Valley Wildcats.

His efforts helped the Blizzard to a 5-1-0-0 record in September to sit tied for first place in the Eastlink North Division.
