EDMUNDSTON, New Brunswick – The Edmundston Blizzard is pleased to announce that young sensation Joshua Nadeau will play with the Northwestern team during the 2020-2021 Maritime Junior Hockey League (MHL) season.
Although he could still play another year in the midget category, he has nothing more to prove in this age group. And since his goal is to play in the United States with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), playing on a regular basis among the juniors with the Blizzard is a step in the right direction for the Saint-François-de-Madawaska native who will turn 17 next October.
“Josh is an exceptionally talented player who has a rare ability to see the right play and skill to make it “, said Blizzard’s head coach Emery Olauson. I loved having Josh in our lineup last year as an affiliated player and am even more excited for our season to start and having Josh with for a full season. Our fans are in for a treat to watch a local star every night with the talent and skill that Josh will display. ”
Joshua Nadeau wore the Blizzard uniform in 7 games last season, registering 2 goals and 4 assists.
He was named the NBPEIMMHL MVP in 2019-2020. In 35 games with the Fredericton Capitals, he had 24 goals and 32 assists. The previous season, he had been voted the league’s rookie of the year.
Joshua was drafted by the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the 5th round (73rd overall) at the June 2019 QMJHL auction. The following week, the Blizzard selected him in the 3rd round (32nd overall) of the MHL draft. In May 2020, Joshua was drafted in the 13th round (185th overall) by the USHL Tri-City Storm who plays in Kearney, Nebraska.
