Peter Amanatidis signs with the Blizzard

EDMUNDSTON, N.B. – Edmundston Blizzard general manager Steve MacPherson has been quite busy this summer! Today the team signed forward Peter Amanatidis, who played with the Quebec Remparts of the QJMHL last season.

Eighteen-year-old forward, Amanatidis scored one goal and added two assists in 15 games with the squad led by Patrick Roy. The Blizzard’s newest acquisition may be 5’7 ’’ and 159 lbs but, according to Steve MacPherson, Amanatidis is « player who plays the game hard and the right way and will score some points too. We think he will be a big addition to our team ».

Originally from Mont-Royal, Que., Amanatidis rose through the ranks of minor hockey in Lac Saint-Louis where he played successively in the bantam AAA and midget AAA categories. In his last midget campaign in 2019-20, he had 10 goals and 12 assists in 40 games.

Meanwhile, the Blizzard recently concluded a trade involving three teams. Edmundston sent Frédéryck Janvier to the Campbellton Tigers in return for young prospects Philippe Collette (2nd overall pick in the 2021 MHL draft) and Jean-Philippe Boudreau (18th pick overall in the same draft) as well as a second-round pick in the 2022 MHL Draft. Campbellton then traded January to the Joliette Prédateurs (LHJAAAQ) in return for Ludovic Harrison.
